Lower Hutt’s only 5-star Qualmark rated Motel
Lower Hutt’s newest motel is also the only one in the Wellington region to have gained a 5–star Qualmark rating.
In fact, say owners Mark and Anna Rudings, it is more like a boutique hotel than what is traditionally offered at a motel, which is why they have called it The Boulcott Lodge.
The Boulcott Lodge has only recently been built, but its central position at 615 High Street close to all the central city amenities means it is already in demand by corporate clients and the general public. Ideally placed near Hutt and Boulcott hospitals it also serves a valuable double purpose for both visiting professionals and those visiting patients. Tourists who wish to spend a little more time than usual to explore the region also appreciate the extra “home away from home” facilities The Boulcott Lodge offers.
Mark and Anna have designed the initial layout themselves, pooling their collective skills to produce a mix of two-bedroom apartments and a variety of studios to suit everyone’s needs. The Boulcott’s interior and exterior have been architectually designed in a contemporary style and furnished with high quality furniture, fittings, appliances and fabrics – the majority of which was sourced locally. Mark grew up in the motel industry so is well-versed in what clients require. All rooms have small fully equipped kitchens and the two-bedroom apartments even include an oven and a dishwasher. Guests have access to a complimentary broadband connection (a choice of wireless or wired) from the rooms and for convenience each room has its own direct dial-in telephone number.
Mark and Anna were adamant they wanted a motel that offered peace, quiet and comfort to their guests and have used all the latest environmentally-friendly materials in the build to accomplish this. The suites are insulated using the latest thermal and acoustic wall, ceiling and door insulation with double glazing for the windows – and even sound proofed light fittings. In addition, the latest in safety and security for guests has been incorporated throughout the Lodge. All units are internally accessed via a swipe-card system and all entrance ways and common areas are monitored by video surveillance. Outside, car parking is just as secure.
With particularly the corporate clients in mind, complimentary use of a small guest meeting room is available for sales presentations, interviews or simply a quiet place to work- and of course it is extensively wired to accommodate laptops. Disability access has also been made easy.
Being 5 star Qualmark rated requires particular attention to detail in all areas of the business – including the available facilities, comfort features, cleanliness, accessibility, lighting, meals and more. To meet these requirements a number of specific daily procedures ensure that guests always receive the same first-class service every time they stay. The steadily growing number of returning guests and positive reviews prove this is working.
It’s that attention to detail that sets Boulcott Lodge apart from the rest.
